It’s always very nice to see a woman photographer in a male dominated job.
I first came to know about Leibovitz was during the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station, WOMEN: NEW PORTRAITS (April 29- May 22, 2016)
The exhibition was inspiring and captivating.
Besides looking at the exhibition, I spent a lot of my time looking through a huge TASCHEN sumo size book, filled with portraits Annie took over the past 40 years.
This exhibition gave young girls a role model to look up to and a dream to dream.
To advocate equality and look beyond gender stereotypes.
Leibovitz specialises in portraits. She does not just photograph them. She builds rapports with her subjects. With the trust and friendship, she is able to go break invisible walls to capture intimate portrait shots.
Leibovitz chooses to capture women holding high profiles, professions in their field and those that contributed to society. This show the reality of how women and men are equally capable in their own abilities. Her images are motivational and authentic when related to life.
